Rules

1. One reason our league has been successful is because when teams join the league we make them take a commitment to completing the whole season. How we do this is simple.

2. The league has 12 teams in it, each team plays the others once, and then the league table is split into two, with the top 4 playing each of the other top twice more for the champions league trophy. Which means it will take 17 games to win league. All teams keep the points they have earned even after the league split.

3. The bottom 8 teams then play each other once more for the premier league trophy.which means teams play 17 league games. There is NO LEAGUE REGISTRATION however, all teams MUST pay for their final 3 league games on entering the league.
This payment is non refundable, unless the league where to cease operations.
Each game costs £30 per game.

4. Games will not commence exactly at times arranged, game time will be cut down if teams arrive late for kick off.
Match fees will be paid to referee in full by both teams before the start of any game.

5. Each match will last approx 40 mins (2 x 20min half’s)

6. Teams must supply their own match ball.

7. ALL PLAYERS MUST WEAR SHINPADS, NOONE WILL BE ALLOWED TO PLAY WITHOUT THEM ON.

8. Teams unable to full fill a fixture must give a minimum of a weeks notice and the opposition are given a 3-0 victory.

9. NO SHOWS! If a team no shows without due notice of 72 hours a 3-0 win will be awarded to the team that turns up. The team that does not show will also be Removed from the league automatically.
There will be no exception to this rule. Any team with unauthorised no shows will be automatically released form the league and will be replaced by the next team on the list.

10. NO SLIDE TACKLES! This rule includes the goal keepers. From now on there will be a new rule in place for slide tackles for consistency. A sin bin will be issued for any player committing two slide tackles when not hitting a player. A player will be automatically sin binned when a slide tackle is committed and the player is fouled. Players are reminded that slide tackles are not allowed in the league. A direct free kick will be given to the opposition for this offence.

11.ANY conduct which the referee feels is unsporting will result in the player being sin binned and/or a direct free kick being given to the opposition.

12. Aggressive or violent behaviour will result in the offender being sent off for the remainder of the match and depending on the severity a £10 fine may be allocated. A penalty kick may also be awarded regardless of the position of the incident

Any situations of players squaring up to each other will resort in both individuals being sin binned for 5 minutes.

13. The referee’s decision is FINAL .

14. Substitutions MUST take place behind your own goal line!

15. Opponents must give the players taking a free kick, 5 paces. All free kicks are direct.

16. Teams may have as many substitute players and make as many substitutions as needed [rolling subs] from their own squad list.

17. There are kick in’s and corner kicks.

18. In cup competitions if a match is drawn in normal time, sudden death penalties will decide the match result.

19. If teams finish level on points, best head-to-head results will decided their final positions. If that game was a draw then goal difference, then attacking goals scored if needed.

20. All players MUST WEAR THE SAME COLOUR JERSEYS as their team each game. No players can take part in a game if they are not wearing the same colour as their team. NO EXCEPTIONS!

21. No players or teams are allowed to wear any jerseys with Political significance. “ie. Celtic, Rangers, Ireland , England , Scotland , Wales , Northern Ireland jerseys, or GAA Jerseys”

This is to ensure our league is comfortably open to all members of the community.

22.Any player doing so will not be allowed to take part in any games whilst wearing the jerseys.

23. BORROWING PLAYERS
Teams can only borrow a maximum of 2 players from other league teams for a game. Teams will be asked on the opening night to provide a list of players who want to be registered to that team..
Teams can play unregistered players at any time.

24. If a match is abandoned for any reason with more than 50% of the game played, the current scoreline will count as the final score.

25. Shinpads MUST be worn by all players! No player will be allowed to play without them.

26.dissent “can” be punished by awarding a direct free kick from where the dissent took place (when the ball is in play).  If play has been stopped for a free kick and dissent is forthcoming from the team with whom the free is against, then the referee has the option to move the ball forward 5 paces, if dissent continues then the referee can if he wishes, move the ball forward again as often as he wants until the dissent stops.

The league is not responsible for checking that teams are not playing more than 2 borrowed registered players, it is the responsibility of the teams competiting to make any queries over player eligibility to the referee
prior to a game starting. Once a game is started no complaints can be made.

26. Banned players. If a player is informed they are banned for a game, they must serve their ban. If a league official observes a player taking part who is banned for that game, then his team will automatically lose that game 3:0 no matter what the scoreline was. (Any players banned for games on any particular week will appear on the league website)

27.No players are allowed to wear jeans or non suitable footwear (plimsolls) in games.

Unlike other 6 a side leagues, we have prestigious winners trophies. The main Champions League trophy is a 26″ replica of the Uefa Champions League Cup and is made of Nickel. The trophy is the pride of the league and costs several hundred pounds. Any team who wins the league will be presented with the cup along with a champagne celebration podium,

however, they can not take away the trophy unless the provide the league with a £400 security deposit, which is complelty refundable on safe and undamaged return of the cup. All winning teams WILL be given a nickel 12″ replica cup to take away with them to celebrate their success without any deposits required.

The Premier league 18″ replica is also valued at a few hundred pounds, Any team who wins the league will be presented with the cup along with a champagne celebration podium..Any team who wins this cup can take the cup away for celebrations aslong as a smaller deposit of £100 is provided to the league . Which again which is complelty refundable on safe and undamaged return of the cup.

There will be NO ammending of these rules under any circumstances, our leagues trophies are what makes us different to all competing leagues. In order to make sure we can run these leagues for years to come we have to secure our trophies in these ways and we are sure all teams can understand why.

Any league can offer cheap plastic trophies to their winners, but ASL offers these ELITE trophies to bring extra excitement to our leagues.
